In Greek mythology, the chimera is an amalgamation of a lion, goat, and snake. In genetics, a chimera is a single organism that is composed of genetically distinct cells. Figuratively, a chimera is a wild or impossible fantasy. I believe that all individuals are a sum of their parts. That everyone is more than one thing, and that many of us harbor seemingly wild or impossible dreams.
The chimera, a creature composed of different animals combined into one, symbolizes the conflicting parts of ourselves, our complex personal histories and emotions, and the process of integrating these aspects into a more coherent whole.
